Abstract

This article was prepared on behalf of the NSW Committee of the MLAA. It is divided into three parts. Part 1 concerns Article 3 of the Hague-Visby Rules with reference to the UNCITRAL Draft Convention, and is authored by S.W. Hetherington. Part 2 is about the changes made to Article 4 of the Hague Rules by the Visby Protocol with reference to similar limitation of liability provisions in the UNCITRAL Draft Convention, and is authored by I.R. James. Part 3 is about defences and limits of liability as extended to servants and agents of carriers in the Visby Protocol, also with reference to comparable provisions in the UNCITRAL Draft Convention, and is authored by J.F. Emmott.

The three parts are published out of order in this paper, and the third part is published separately in this Issue (1977 Conference Proceedings).
