Abstract

M.A. Hill contemplates future developments in the law surrounding the carriage of goods by sea, and how marine insurers will adapt to those changes over the next decade. Hill refers back to the Hague Rules 1924 and the UK Merchant Shipping Acts of 1894 and 1900, taking these as the starting point for later developments in carrier liability. The Hamburg Rules are also covered in some depth, with the author forming a negative view on their adoption, preferring the Hague-Visby Rules.
