Abstract

Morgan poses the question, would it be mutually beneficial to bring trans-Tasman transport under the ANZCERTA (Australia-New Zealand Closer Economic Relations Trade Agreement) umbrella? In response, Morgan argues that the trans-Tasman trade is particularly lucrative and should be reserved for Australian and New Zealand operators only, as a logical development of ANZCERTA. Moreover, it is essential that an Australasian trade group maintains its own merchant fleet due to the maritime history and traditions of both Australia and New Zealand.
