Abstract

In this paper, Irving comments on the article titled 'Oil Pollution in the Australian and New Zealand Region' by Michael White. Irving aims to pick up on White's statements and to shed further light on the liability and compensation regime which the Conventions and Agreements have come to establish for tanker spills, how liability insurance in the form of P&I cover has responded, and how the cost and ultimately perhaps even the continuing availability of that insurance is threatened by developments in the USA under the Oil Pollution Act 1990.
