Abstract
Howse speaks on the topic of Hong Kong Post July 1997 (Business Session 2). The paper is divided into three parts: first, Howse explains what exactly changed on 1 July 1997 and what is meant by the concept of 'one country, two systems'; second, Howse discusses such changes as have taken place to the legal and arbitration systems in Hong Kong and the extent to which those systems are different from China; finally, Howse comments on what he sees as possible threats to Hong Kong's continued commercial success.
