Abstract

Black proposes that the particular problems faced by seafarers and their just solution have been integral to the development of admiralty jurisdiction and jurisprudence as a whole. Approaching seafarer welfare as an object of special concern for admiralty courts, Black reviews the history of protections for seafarers (and especially wages) in Australia, New Zealand, and England.
