Abstract
This paper was presented as part of Business Session 3, on the topic of 'Maritime Security: The Changing World since September 2001', which was chaired by Craig Carter. The second page of the paper contains a short biography of the author.
This paper contains the slides for Kilner's presentation, in which he updates on Australia's progress in enhancing its maritime security (including the adoption of security plans at Australian ports, port facilities, and on Australian ships), its history of implementing maritime security measures (such as the ISPS Code) and drafting challenges, lessons learned from the process, and next steps.
