Abstract

The second page of this paper contains a short biography of the author.

In this address, Justice Waung discusses the Law of Priorities as it functions in various common law countries, with the aim of generating some interest on a subject which is normally regarded as the backwater of maritime law. In particular, Justice Waung focuses on some of the features of the British-based system of the Maritime Law of Priorities and ponders on the implications of the present state of the law on Priorities.

Justice Waung concludes by stating that the Maritime Law of Priorities appears to be entering into a new age capable of great development, and that there may be fascinating litigation on Priorities in the near future which will be of interest to many.
