Abstract

This paper was presented as part of Business Session 4, on the topic of 'Maritime law and the military', which was chaired by Alan Sherlock. The paper contains both the slides for Moore's presentation and annotations (and references) for those slides.

Moore discusses maritime security and the Australian Maritime Identification System, which operates in conjunction with the ISPS Code to require information from inbound vessels into Australia upon request. Moore also considers other Australian legislation granting Australia jurisdiction beyond the territorial sea.
