Abstract

This paper contains the slides for David's presentation about growing automation and how this will affect the maritime industry, as well as issues that might arise. David considers the difficulties with defining new autonomous ships and how pre-existing international instruments and domestic safety regulation will apply, such as COLREGS, the STCW Convention, and SOLAS. Further, David debates possible liability scenarios and difficulties with insurance.
