Abstract

In this paper, Federal Magistrate Lucev discusses various aspects of the Federal Magistrates Court's maritime jurisdiction, including the sources of its jurisdiction (and associated jurisdiction), the conduct of admiralty work, primary dispute resolution, practice and procedure, and the structure of the Court itself. Federal Magistrate Lucev attaches both s 4 of the Admiralty Act 1988 (Cth) and the Notice to Practitioners in all States and Territories of the Conduct of Admiralty and Maritime Work in the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia as appendices.
