Abstract
D.M. Ryan's paper considers the scope and operation of two strike clauses ('Centrocon' and 'Gencon') in common use in the shipping industry, and the possible impact on these in the Australian context from the Charter-Party (Laytime) Definitions submitted by the CMI at their September 1977 Conference. Laytime and demurrage are relevant topics for the purpose of this discussion.
