Abstract
The intent of this article is, as explained by the authors, to provide insight into the actual day to day operations of a ship operator, including the types of management decisions that have to be made, involving the fixing of cargo, stowing of the ship, instructing the agents, arranging and/or instructing on bills of lading, and instructing the master on voyage and cargo requirements. This article serves as a distillation of the various decisions which have to be made in connection with one or more ships at any given time.
